The Philip Maher Foundation’s Defibrillator Replacement Effort: A Community Call to Action
The Philip Maher Foundation was established in memory of Philip Maher after his tragic loss to a heart attack. During those 11 years which have followed, we’ve been proud to help to provide 35 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to local sports clubs and community groups, supporting the community and saving lives.

A Critical Issue
The manufacturer of some of our AEDs, Stryker, has discontinued the production of QUIK-PAK electrodes and CHARGE-PAK battery chargers for the LIFEPAK CR Plus models. This decision affects some of the community sites we’ve supported, leaving them without a reliable means to maintain their defibrillators.
The Consequences
Without replacement pads and batteries, these defibrillators will become ineffective in emergency situations, putting lives at risk. The Philip Maher Foundation is committed to ensuring that the community sites we’ve supported continue to have access to life-saving defibrillators.
A Community Effort
To address this issue, we need to replace the outdated LIFEPAK CR Plus defibrillators at a cost of around £20,000. We invite you to join us in this effort. Your support, whether through a donation or by spreading the word about our work, will help us achieve our goal.
